The railway station Demir Kapija is one of the oldest railway stations in the Republic of Macedonia, inaugurated in 1887. The first superintendant of the railway station was Agostino Negroto. The station is equipped with water pumps for steam locomotives and there is a restaurant within the railway station. The name of the station is due to the gorge.
